Rita Dominic happy to be single until she meets her true love
The expectations of the society from women may be putting the latter under the pressure of getting married but actress Rita Dominic plans to get hitched at her own time.
Rita Dominic is happy to remain single for as long as possible until she is able to find her true love.
In a television interview she criticizes the pressure often placed on women in the Nigerian
society expecting them to get married at a set period.
The actress has expressed that she cannot be influenced by the culture.“I will marry the man of
my dreams and not the man society dreams for me.
“Society feels that there is something wrong with you if you’re a certain age and you’re not
married.
“What if it’s the society that something is wrong with for thinking that way, for forcing someone
to do what they don’t want to do or forcing them to do what they want to do but in their
(society’s)
own time?”
The signs are always there deciding if a relationship is going to work. Rita Dominic is aware of
this as she reflects about an old romance that almost led to marriage.
Changing an adult in a relationship is quite difficult in her experience -- a reason why she is
happy her last affair didn't work out.
"I almost married someone. We were there. We were at that point. It didn’t work out and I’m
happy it didn’t work out because I saw the signs.
"You know how you see the signs and you just ignore it hoping the person will change. Look, a
grown man and a grown woman cannot change.
"They can find a way to live with each other and respect each other’s feelings—but to change a
grown person is difficult."
